A film about a giant werewolf called ‘Ralph’ destroying NYC? Hollywood says ‘YES’ to Rampage movie.

A film about a giant werewolf called ‘Ralph’ destroying NYC? Hollywood says ‘YES’ to Rampage movie.

This week, in things you thought were unique to your childhood but were totally just part of everyone’s childhood:

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson will pair with director Brad Peyton to bring the AWESOME Midway arcade game Rampage to cinemas. Whaaaaaa!?

Apparently the concept involves The Rock battling each of the game’s three original monsters and shooting is set to take place late in 2017. Johnson partnered with Peyton this year in epic disaster flick San Andreas. The disaster film also starred Kylie Minogue so unsurprisingly it turned out to be critically panned although it made a lot of money at the box office and was actually one of the most successful original blockbusters of this summer. Go figure.

The game was almost adapted for cinema in 2011 but the producers’ vision was never realised. It’ll be interesting to see how the very basic premise of this legendary game could possibly be shaped into a story arc for the big screen. George, Lizzie and Ralph had one objective and that was to simply tear.shit.up. As long they bashed buildings as unrelentingly as possible, their characters were guaranteed success.

I suppose Peyton is jumping at the chance to pit a giant lizard, ape and werewolf against the American military on the big screen. Because everyone knows that’s cinematic GOLD!

This dubious sounding Rampage movie is slated for release in 2017.
