Sundance Favourite- Me Earl and the Dying Girl- is About Teens and Cancer and it is Apparently INCREDIBLE.

Teenagers being morose, navigating lonely high school corridors to the soundtrack of alt-J. Are you gagging into your popcorn yet?

A new trailer has arrived for the much-buzzed new film Me and Earl and the Dying Girl. Admittedly it feels like whoever cut this trailer is a staunch subscriber to the ‘How To Make A Film Look Like A Twee Indie Flick’ mailing list, but rest assured the film appears to be much more substantial than that. The film nabbed both the US dramatic grand jury prize and US dramatic audience award at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. That’s nothing to sneeze at. Don’t sneeze at it. Cover your mouth. Rude.

The film, which director Alfonso Gomez-Rejon desecribed simply as “about processing loss”, is about high school relationships and how three protagonists navigate them when one of them is diagnosed with cancer. I know, it still sounds like a Nicholas Sparks movie BUT thus far 100% of critics on Rotten Tomatoes have recommended the film, and as a side note, it features Nick Offerman (better known as everyone’s favourite dad crush, Ron Swanson).

Me Earl and the Dying Girl will be released in Australia on Thursday September 3. Pop it in your diary.
