The Madden 2016 trailer is the best / stupidest ad for a video game ever
A new Madden game is a big fucking deal.
Alongside the FIFA series it’s the biggest sports game on the planet, so a new version requires a big announce with all the bells and whistles.
And for Madden 2016, EA Sports is definitely not holding back.
Enlisting the help of players Rob Gronkowski, Julio Jones, Antonio Brown, Colin Kaepernick and coach Rex Ryan, along with Hollywood actors Dave Franco, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Matt Willig (playing a very Javier Bardem looking evil boss), the geniuses behind the game’s marketing plan have created this hilarious A-Team style film trailer that is already going viral.
Featuring an absurd plotline, where action heroes Franco and Mintz-Plasse have to train and battle former footballer Willig in a game of Madden to rescue a damsel in distress.
Sounds straight forward enough – until you add Bollywood scenes, giant football launchers, motorbike stunts, hilarious combat sequences, a death, a betrayal, a dinosaur, and, oh yeah, Colin Kaepernik playing Al Pacino in his role from Scent Of A Woman.
It’s a a four-and-a-half comedy ride that’s probably more entertaining than half the films out in theatres right now.
HOO-HA!
Madden 2016 is released August 25.
