Four Darebin Music Feast Events You’d Be Batshit To Miss

Four Darebin Music Feast Events You’d Be Batshit To Miss

The 20th Darebin Music Feast is rolling around this October, and it’s probably the festival’s biggest program to date. Stacks of really brilliant events are being put on, many of them for free, for residents of Darebin and the broader Melbsies public. The Feast is oh so much more than just music, too. As you’ll see from our picks of the program, there’s stacks of stuff here to tickle your brain box.

ENTER SANDMAN [dozens of riff-lords gathering to play Enter Sandman in unison]

Anyone and everyone with a thirst for metal and access to a guitar is invited to plug in and play Enter Sandman at once. Northcote Town Hall is not gonna know what hit it. Hope those foundations can withstand the riffs.

CERES ALBUM LAUNCH [Nocosoco feels fest]

Ceres have without a doubt released one of the best local releases of 2016 with Drag It Down On You. They’re officially launching the album at Northcote Social Club for Darebin Music Feast and it’s going to be one of the best headlining sets of the fest, rest assured.

RESERVOIR STOMP [daring dudes to cross Bell Street for some family fun]

This one is an event run by locals for locals…and anyone else who’s ever been too afraid to venture beyond Bell Street to attend a gig. So, like, everyone then.

The Stomp celebrates Reservoir’s diverse talent base, with more than 20 of its finest exponents of dance, comedy, funk, soul, salsa, garage, rockabilly, hip hop and punk. To top it off, there’ll be an incredible All Stars Band playing hits from Quentin Tarantino’s iconic Reservoir Dogs soundtrack, barefoot bowls and local food vendors. Yas.

UKELELE WORKSHOPS [finally, someone is going to teach you how to use your uke]

Just me or has everyone been gifted a uke at some point and been disappointed at their inability to play, like, anything on it? ALL I WANT IS TO PLAY THE CHILL HAWAIIAN VERSION OF SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW IS THAT SO MUCH TO ASK? Finally someone’s gonna teach me how to rip out a riff to impress everyone at the next house party.
