Get your first peek at Michael Fassbender as Steve Jobs
After the lackluster failure that was the Ashton Kutcher Steve Jobs biopic left a sour taste in a lot of peoples’ mouths (and has some how relegated Kutcher to doing Lenovo ads in a JB Hi-fi with a weird, South African accent), it looks like the late Apple genius is now set to have his story retold properly.
The first teaser trailer for the new, simply-titled film Steve Jobs has just dropped, and it looks like the combination of acclaimed director Danny Boyle, legendary writer Aaron Sorkin and everyone’s favourite Irishman Michael Fassbender is going to be a fairly magical team.
The teaser, despite being fairly reserved on the content it reveals, looks incredibly slick, featuring Magneto performing an inspiring speech as Jobs over a montage of just a handful of images from the film, and with an ever encroaching black space that eventually leaves nothing but a computer screen cursor that’s left to type out the name of the man and the film.
The screen then explodes into a shot of one of Jobs’ famed appearances in his trademark skivvy in front of a cult-like Apple convention – the image we best remember of the late tech magnate.
The film is also set to star Seth Rogen as Jobs’ partner Steve Wozniak, Kate Winslet as early Macintosh team member Joanna Hoffman, and Jeff Daniels as early Apple investor John Sculley.
And if all that sounds a little bit dull off the bat, remember that Aaron Sorkin was the one that turned the fairly bland story of the start up of Facebook into a mega-hit.
