All Their Mates Live Interstate: Super Best Friends Enlist Pugs To Brighten Inherently Sad New Video
Dog videos. Everyone’s achilles heel.
Just as a summer comedy blockbuster can never come close to eliciting the kind of laughs a five minute Fail Army video can, no special effects can ever really be as fun as watching a video primarily filled with dogs. Canberra’s Super Best Friends have cottoned onto this and delivered one of the SHMOOSHIEST lil’ videos of the winter. Their video for new song All My Friends Are Leaving Town is akin to a solid afternoon in a dog park. But the song itself is a little more complicated than that.
As per usual Super Best Friends style, the lyrics have some sharp social commentary buried underneath dem hooky chords. It details the band members’ own experiences growing up in regional New South Wales and Victoria and constantly losing mates to greener pastures. How are you really supposed to react when all your mates leg it to Melbourne, essentially admitting that your friendship isn’t sufficient enough reason for them to stay? OOF.
The video is directed by Jimmy Logue and features instagram’s Punky The Pug. Observe:
